Rebuilding Of Centre County Church Destroyed By Arson Nears Completion

More than 18 months after a Centre County congregation lost its church in a fire, construction of a brand-new church is nearing completion.The Mt. Eagle Church of Christ was among a number of buildings torched by an arsonist in January 2007. Since that time, parishioners have been working to rebuild their house of worship.Ed McCartney, who has spearheaded the rebuilding effort, said the new church is expected to be up-and-running by October or November.The walls are up, the roof is on and space is ready for a new pulpit. While construction crews have been working in the daylight hours, members of the congregation have been doing volunteer work at night to move along the construction process.Stay with WJAC-TV News and WJACTV.com for continuing coverage.
