MEGAN HUGHES

Megan Hughes joined the WJAC-TV Washington Bureau in November of 2006.

Megan’s passion to tell stories has taken her around the world. During her career, she’s interviewed street children in South Africa, tsunami victims in Thailand and US soldiers inside the DMZ in Korea. She began her career as an anchor and reporter on the island of Aruba.

Before moving to the nation’s capital, she spent 4 years reporting at WRAL-TV in Raleigh and WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina. Her most memorable experiences include covering the 2004 Democratic primary, reporting as Hurricanes Alex and Isabel hit the shore and following the trial of serial killer Richard Marc Evonitz.

Megan earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northwestern University, majoring in journalism with a concentration in political science. An avid reader, Megan agrees with North Carolina native Charles Kuralt that “good writing comes from good reading.”

A native Clevelander, Megan grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons and the Cleveland Browns with her two younger brothers. She enjoys playing soccer and spending time outdoors…especially if it involves a boat.
