Lauren Melvin is a Somerset County native who joined WJAC in July 2007.

She started as the Blair County Reporter and quickly took over the desk as the anchor of the WJAC TV weekend news. In 2008, Lauren assumed her current role as anchor of WJAC TV "News at Sunrise" from 5-7 a.m.

Lauren fell in love with broadcasting and the fast pace of the newsroom during her summer Internship at WJAC. In college, she also interned at CBS News The Early Show and Weekend News in the Washington, DC, Bureau and at Cox Broadcasting in the Washington Bureau. Her interest in politics also led her to work in the White House, on Capitol Hill, and at a government affairs firm.

Lauren is a 2007 graduate of The George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Media and a concentration in Political Science. During her time at GW, Lauren anchored, produced, and directed The Source on GW-TV. She also studied European television and media and politics in Barcelona, Spain.
