Large trucks loaded with windmill parts have become common in the northern Alleghenies.

According to officials in Ridgway, more than 200 wide loads have passed through the borough in the past two months.

The borough charges each wide load $100 for a police escort.

Borough officials said they've made more than $29,000 off the wide load escort fee.

Other communities have complained about not getting enough advance notice from trucks carrying wide loads.

Officials in Ridgway said knowing when a wide load is coming into the borough can prevent traffic problems.
