The diet pill company that helped Anna Nicole Smith slim down is coming to her defense after the model/reality show star's bizarre appearance at Sunday night's American Music Awards in Los Angeles."Like all our customers, we stand by Anna," Trimspa founder and CEO Alex Goen said in a statement Monday. "More important, we stand with her as our friend."Smith, 36, was on hand to introduce rapper Kanye West early in the show. Wearing a curve-hugging black and red gown, she asked the crowd, "Do you like my body?" and appeared to be disoriented and manic as she introduced West as "freaking genius."Cameras abruptly cut away from Smith at the end of the introduction.
Host Jimmy Kimmel was supplied with fresh material for the entire ceremony because of Smith's antics, saying things like she "gave the best performance of the night."Kimmel also implied she was high: "I told her to stay away from Snoop's brownies," Kimmel said, in reference to a mock bake sale rapper Snoop Dogg was having backstage."Clearly last night’s award ceremony has become more about Anna’s introduction of Kanye West than about who won the prized awards -- which is unfortunate," said Goen. "Those artists worked very hard to have their moment of recognition, and Trimspa applauds their success."
