Ready for a BIG event? The Children’s Advisory Commission of Indiana County is planning a mammoth day to commemorate the 10th Annual Family Fun Fest. The theme is “Festasuarus, celebrating 10 BIG years”. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Indiana Mall, from 10 AM to 3 PM. There is no cost to families to attend the Family Fun Fest. More than 50 agencies/organizations will be manning tables that will provide activities, in a pre-historic style, for children and families. Featured activities include the Paleo Play Park & Dino Dig activity area, 4-H Petting Zoo, Indiana Kiwanis Story Time, and the popular Parent Child Look-Alike contest. Center Stage Entertainment Schedule: 10 AM: Movie clips from the BBC series Walking with Dinosaurs 11 AM: Carnegie Science Center presents: Dinosaur Detectives 12 PM: Parent Child Look-Alike Contest (Pre-registration and Pre-judging starts at 11PM) 1 PM: Carnegie Science Center presents: Colossal Fossil Fuels 2 PM: The Great Holtzie! The first, if not only, Stand-up Comedian for kids and families. Get ready to LOL! In county wide public needs assessment surveys conducted in 2002, 2007, and 2012, Indiana County residents have consistently agreed that the availability of free or low cost family recreational opportunities is a high priority. The Family Fun Fest continues meet the need! It is a well-attended, highly anticipated, event for children and families in our county.
