State Shuts Down Clearfield County Personal Care Home

A personal care home in Clearfield County slammed with violations is being forced to close.

Officials with the state Department of Public Welfare said the Mariloyd Personal Care Home is being shut down after several repeated violations. Officials did not specify what those violations were.

A WJAC-TV reporter stopped at the nursing home but was told no one was available to talk and calls were not returned as of noon.

The facility housed more than 30 elderly people who are now displaced. Some residents' family members said they only recently found out about the closure and said they have just until next week to find their loved ones a new place to live.

They also said many of the residents have become good friends and it will be difficult to separate them.

"People have been there for eight years and they're like a family. And now, they have to be put into different homes, so their little family is split up for the holidays," said Patty Hess, of Clearfield County.
