LOSING IT ACROSS THE ALLEGHENIES: Lifestyle Changes Help Local Woman Drop 36 Pounds
Whether it's hitting the gym at Curves, making a salad or taking a walk with her family, Kara Ketley's lifestyle has seen a complete transformation."I have more energy," said Ketley, who is participating in WJAC-TV's Losing It Across The Alleghenies program. "I stay on a regular schedule. I've made exercise a part of my daily routine, which was a big adjustment."Ketley, who back in February had more than 100 pounds to lose, has dropped a whopping 36 pounds in just a few months. She's also lost inches and dropped nearly three pants sizes. While she said she still wants to lose another 90 pounds, the tips she's learned at Curves in Richland have put her on the path to success, a path that in the past was not so encouraging."It's really been life-changing. Before, I felt very depressed over my weight. I felt hopeless because I would keep starting and stopping, starting and stopping," she said. Now, Kara said she has a new outlook. It's not a diet, but a new way of living. The 34-year-old mother of two works out three to four times a week for 30 minutes at Curves, then walks at home with her family. She also serves up healthy meals from the Curves Recipe Book and the new eating habits are rubbing off on her children."I always thought healthy food was disgusting, but when she makes her food and I see it, it looks really good," said Kara's daughter, Abby.Kara said with the support of her family and Curves, she now has the energy to walk up stairs and play with her children. She said she also knows also that a healthier life means more than just looking good.
