New Viagra Study
In what many doctors are calling a landmark medical study, there is evidence that daily use of Viagra could reverse the problem of impotence in many men. Drugs like Viagra have literally changed the landscape of impotence treatment.
But now this new study provides evidence that regular use of these types of medicines might actually cure impotence. Bob Rozman, an impotent patient, tells us, You cant describe in words just what that feeling is.
Bob suffers from impotence, but hes had a terrific response to one of the new generation of medications--the phosphodiesterase inhibitors which help treat impotence.
These drugs: Viagra, Cialis, and also Levitra all work the same way by boosting blood flow to the genital area, which is the key to potency. But theyre taken on an as-needed basis.
Now new research presented at the American urological association annual meeting shows daily use of Viagra can actually reverse the impotence problem.
The study compared men who took Viagra on an as needed basis, and a group that got 50 milligrams of Viagra nightly at bedtime.
On year later, only 9.7 percent of those who got Viagra on an as needed basis had normal potency based on a questionnaire; but in the nightly group, 59% had normal potency. Dr. Frank Sommer, the study author, says, We were surprised that 60 percent which is a lot, its really a lot, reported so well.
What they demonstrated was that on those who took Viagra daily, there was improvement in arterial flow as compared to when they started. The thinking is the use of Viagra prevented muscle wasting in the genital area.
Its composed of smooth muscle, and if you dont use it, smooth muscle undergoes atrophy, atrophy and collage replacement. And collagen when it replaces smooth muscles causes inelasticity.
So by quote, exercising, on a regular basis, versus as needed, we see that for the first time, we see in this study a benefit.
A potential cure for the patients like Bob.
I was very much impressed, Bob says, Its a big deal to show its possible to cure patients. What we would like to see at this point is that theres confirmation of this in the larger population in different subgroups.
The average age of patients was 47 years old. It looked at individuals with impotence from all physical causes. Other studies also showed Viagra can help bring about return of spontaneous potency in men who have had their prostate out. Removing the prostate causes permanent damage to the nerves, but these men were able to get themselves off of Viagra altogether.
