Pair Of District Football Titles Decided Friday
Two district football champions will be crowned Friday night.In District 5-A, three-seed Windber faces four-seed Conemaugh Township at Berlin High School. This game is a rematch of a week two WestPac match which the Indians won 14-0. The Ramblers started the season 1-2, but since then, Windber has won seven of its last eight. Conemaugh Twp., meanwhile, started this season with only six starters returning from a team which didn't make the playoffs in 2007.In District 6-AAA, top-seed Hollidaysburg plays two-seed Johnstown at Mansion Park in Altoona. The Golden Tigers have won nine straight games after losing the season opener 37-0 to State College. This is their third straight appearance in the 6-AAA championship game -- losing last year and winning in 2006, both against Indian Valley.Johnstown is making its first appearance in the championship game since 2004. The Trojans are 8-3 this season. Their ninth win of the year will not only mean their first district title in five seasons, but also the 600th win in school history.Both games Friday night start at 7 p.m. '
