Prado Earns NL Player Of The Week Honors

New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves infielder Martin Prado has been named National League Player of the Week for the period ending July 5.Prado responded by leading the Senior Circuit with 15 hits, including eight doubles, and a 1.000 slugging percentage for the week. His 26 total bases also paced the N.L. while ranking tied for first in runs scored with eight. He ranked second with a .577 average and .621 on-base percentage. The 25-year-old fourth-year player has logged time in 19 games at first base, 18 games at third and 12 games at second thus far in 2009. He's hitting .329 overall with 19 doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI and 23 runs scored this season. His first career weekly award also featured two four-hit games as he hit safely in all six games for the period. Other nominees this past week included Arizona's Dan Haren (2-0, 1.38 ERA, 15 SO); Derrek Lee (.679 SLG, 4 HR, 12 RBI) of the Cubs; Cincinnati's Joey Votto (.440, 1 HR, 4 RBI) and Florida's Ricky Nolasco (2-0, 1.13 ERA, 20 SO).
