Indians' Choo Named AL Player Of The Month

New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - Cleveland Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo was selected as the American League Player of the Month for September.Choo was outstanding at the plate in the final month of the season, hitting .400 (34-for-85) with five homers, five doubles and 24 RBI. The 26-year-old recorded a nine-game hitting streak during the stretch and added 12 multi-hit effort. Choo's breakout helped the Indians, who finished with a .500 record, go 16-11 during the month. The South Korean native compiled a .309 average with 14 homers and 66 RBI in 94 games this season. Other players receiving votes included Choo's teammate Asdrubal Cabrera (.427, 6 2B, 2 HR, 22 RBI), Rangers infielder Hank Blalock (.348, 10 2B, 8 HR, 23 RBI); and Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera (.326, 4 2B, 8 HR, 23 RBI).
