Stayin' Fit? I'm lovin' it!

Here's some tips to help your kids go active!

Turn daily chores into family games: Who can make a bed the fastest? Simon Says dust the end table! Red light, green light while clearing the dinner dishes.

Help youngsters find fun in every physical activity. Don't just run – Gallop like a horse. Walk like a monkey. Hop like a kangaroo. Jump like a tiger. You could even try strolling like a handsome clown in size 14 1/2 shoes!

Find new activities in new locations. Remember that jungle gyms, bowling lanes, backyards, skating rinks, community centers and PlayPlaces all count!

Set a good example by sticking to your own daily workout schedule. Let your kids know that you think exercise is a fun pleasure, not a boring punishment.

Limit screen time. Pay attention to the amount of time your kids spend watching television, playing video games and surfing the net. Consider trading a half hour of screen time for each hour they spend being active.

Be a kid again. Share your favorite games from childhood with your own kids. Old classics like freeze tag, kick the can, hopscotch, red rover and release may be brand new to them!

Don't forget that smiling is an exercise too. Be sure to give your face a workout every day!
