JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Terri Kerr, who is also known as Terri Miller, was found guilty in federal court Friday morning of setting fire to Miller Pools in 2002. A group of 10 Miller family members sat behind her, some of them crying, as federal marshals escorted Kerr from the courtroom to be taken to jail.

Kerr is responsible for starting the fire that sent two dozen firefighters to the hospital and nearly killed one of them.

The prosecution presented testimony from five former Miller Pools employees who said Kerr tried to pay them to start the fire for her.

Kerr's former boyfriend also took the stand, testifying that Kerr admitted to him that she did it so her fiance could collect insurance money.

Despite the evidence against her, both attorneys involved in the case agree it was a difficult case to try since the cause of the fire was ruled undetermined, not arson.

Federal law required Kerr to be taken into custody until her sentencing hearing.

Kerr will be housed in the Cambria County Jail until her sentencing date in August.

Kerr had no criminal record, but faces a minimum of five years in prison.
