T-Wolves Sign First-Round Picks Flynn, Ellington

(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed 2009 first-round draft picks Jonny Flynn and Wayne Ellington, the team announced Friday.

Flynn, a 6-foot-0 guard from Syracuse, was the sixth overall selection in this year's draft. Ellington, a 6-foot-5 guard out of North Carolina, was the 28th overall pick. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

In two seasons at Syracuse, Flynn averaged 16.6 points, 6.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. He had an excellent second season with the Orange in 2008-09, averaging 17.4 points with 6.7 assists in 38 games. He was instrumental in the team's six-overtime victory over eventual Final Four participant UConn in the Big East Tournament, scoring 34 points and dishing out 11 assists.

Ellington played three seasons at UNC, and averaged 14.7 points, 4.1 boards and 2.2 assists in 115 games. He was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 Final Four as he helped lead the Tar Heels to the national title.
