Cavaliers Officially Sign SG Parker

Posted: 10:48 am EDT July 13, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Cleveland Cavaliers signed free agent shooting guard Anthony Parker to an undisclosed contract on Monday.

Parker, 34, has spent the past three seasons in Toronto and averaged 10.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists over 80 games during the 2008-09 campaign.

The former Euroleague MVP (2005) also recorded a career-high 104 steals last year and shot 39.0 percent from three-point range.

For his NBA career, which has included stops with Philadelphia and Orlando, Parker has averaged 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 290 contests.

"Anthony will be a solid addition to our roster. He is a very good, intelligent all-around basketball player," Cavs general manager Danny Ferry said. "Our coaching staff will especially appreciate the good shooting and solid defense that Anthony brings to our team."

The Cavs have been very busy thus far in the offseason, already boosting their frontcourt with the acquisition of center Shaquille O'Neal and locking up free agent forward Anderson Varejao.
