Clippers Make A Stop In Houston

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Clippers resume a grueling six-game road trip in south Texas against a Houston Rockets team in the midst of their own difficult stretch.

The Clippers fell to 2-2 on their trek Monday in San Antonio when Tony Parker led seven Spurs in double figures with 19 points, as San Antonio rolled over the Clippers, 103-87.

Chris Kaman ended with game-highs of 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Rasual Butler scored 18 points off the bench for Los Angeles, which dropped its 14th straight contest to the Spurs.

The Rockets, meanwhile. continued their torturous holiday season schedule Saturday with a 95-90 victory over Oklahoma City. Trevor Ariza poured in 31 points in that one but the Rockets lost another player due to injury.

Rookie forward Chase Budinger departed in the second quarter with a right ankle sprain and will be sidelined for the next two weeks.

Ariza, who played 47 minutes, also had eight rebounds and six assists. He went 5-of-8 from three-point range. Chuck Hayes chipped in 13 points and 15 rebounds for Houston, which has won the last 13 meetings against the Thunder franchise. Houston's last loss in the series came April 4, 2006 in Seattle.

Luis Scola had 16 points and Shane Battier 13 for the Rockets, winners of two straight games.

"This is a very enjoyable, fun team to play on," Battier said. "We have good guys, guys that want to play hard and want to compete every single night. You'd be surprised at how rare that is in this league."

The Rockets finished the second of a series of back-to-back games with the win. Tonight's game marks the first of yet another back-to-back that finishes in Orlando tomorrow. Houston will then toil on consecutive nights once more during Christmas week with road games against New Jersey (Dec. 26) and Cleveland (Dec. 27).

Rick Adelman's club is expected to get a boost tonight with the return of forward Carl Landry, who sat out against the Thunder following a collision with Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki that knocked out five teeth.

The Rockets have won nine of their past 10 games vs. LA, including a 102-85 thumping in Hollywood on Dec. 2.
