Celtics, Clippers Square Off In LA

(Sports Network) - The red-hot Boston Celtics will resume a four-game road trip Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.

The Celtics have won three in a row and 14 of 15 games, including an 86-77 victory at Orlando on Christmas Day in the opener of the trek. Ray Allen led the way with 18 points and Rajon Rondo added 17 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for Boston, which won its first game since announcing forward Paul Pierce would be out almost two weeks due to knee surgery he had on Wednesday.

Tony Allen added 16 points, Kevin Garnett tallied 10 points and seven boards and Rasheed Wallace scored 11 points off the bench in the victory. Boston owns the best record in the East at 23-5.

"We played in unison -- it was an overall team effort and we all chipped in," said Ray Allen. "This was a benchmark game for us because we have been talking about it for a long time. We did what we had to do and we feel pretty good about it. This propels us going forward."

Boston will also visit Golden State and Phoenix on the road swing and owns an impressive 13-1 mark away from Beantown this season. Garnett (head/back) is questionable for Sunday's game.

Meanwhile, the Clippers didn't fair too well on Christmas Day and dropped a 124-93 decision to the Phoenix Suns in the finale of a six-game road trip in the desert. Rasual Butler scored 22 for the Clippers, who went 2-4 on the trip and got 19 points and 10 rebounds out of Chris Kaman.

"We had a good start, but typical basketball up and down and we just struggled," Kaman said. "They put a little more pressure on us or we put a little pressure on ourselves. They made shots and went on a little run and it really wasn't much of a game after that."

Eric Gordon and Baron Davis each scored 11 in defeat. The Clippers will put their 7-8 home record on the line Sunday. LA forward Marcus Camby (knee) is listed as questionable versus the Celtics.

The Celtics and Clippers split a pair of matchups a season ago, but Boston has won six of the previous 10 meetings in the series.
