The woman who claims she kidnapped a dog in order to save it from abuse and neglect was expected to appear in court Monday.

Tammy Grimes could be charged with theft and other charges if she does not return "Jake" the dog, but she has thus far refused to cooperate with police.

Grimes, of the group "Dogs Deserve Better," said the dog was in poor condition and she took action to rescue the animal from what she said was abuse.

Grimes said she last saw Jake in October and said the dog is in a safe location a long distance away.
