Centre County Hospital Not Expected To Reopen Before Spring

Residents in a Centre County community had hoped that their local hospital would reopen this year, but now it looks like Philipsburg Hospital won't open its doors again before Spring. Dr. Larry Adams, who is heading the group that will reopen the hospital, says they will go to settlement on the facility at the end of January. After that there is still quite a bit of work to be done before the hospital can reopen its doors. The group has to obtain insurance and the necessary licensing to reopen Philipsburg Hospital. Dr. Adams also says that there are a number of renovations that have to be done to the facility. In addition, a new staff has to be hired to help run the hospital. Those are just a few of the things that Dr. Adams says will take several months to get done, making it impossible to reopen the facility before Spring. The plan is to still reopen the emergency room first and begin operations with a small staff.
