Kidnapped Dog Dies

A 19-year-old dog that gained national attention after police said a woman kidnapped it has died.

Jake, who was later renamed "Doogie" by the woman accused of kidnapping him, Tammy Grimes, died last last week. Grimes claimed the dog was being mistreated and neglected, so she put Jake in a foster home.

The woman who had been caring for Jake notifited Grimes Thursday that the German Shepherd had died peacefully in his sleep.

"He did well, off and on, and he was up and down. Then, she found a medication that really suited him and he really changed and had three really good months where...he became one of the family," said Grimes.

It is unclear if Jake's death will impact charges against Grimes.
