Commissioner, Concerned Relatives Discuss Condition Of Cambria County Nursing Home

EBENSBURG, Pa. -- Concerns about relatives living in the Cambria County-run nursing home led to a meeting with a county commissioner Wednesday night.Laurel Crest is not accepting patients until the home complies with state and federal regulations. If the home does not, there is a possibility it could lose its license to operate.Rita Fye's sister is a resident at Laurel Crest. She told Channel 6 News, "I for one was concerned that they were going to lose their license, she was going to have to be moved to another facility. I didn't know what we were going to do."Channel 6 News spoke with County Commissioner P.J. Stevens about the outcome of the meeting. He told Channel 6 News, "When this is all said and done, this was a great facility, it will be an excellent facility from here on in."The commissioners assured relatives of patients the deficiencies within Laurel Crest will be corrected by the June 19 deadline.
