BLAIR COUNTY, Pa -- Newburg native Army Pfc. Larry Parks Jr. was killed 38 days into his tour of duty, family members said on Tuesday.

Park's father said his son was killed in Iraq when his tank was hit with an IED, an improvised explosive device.

Park's family and friends said being in the Army and being a soldier was all he ever wanted to do. Larry Parks Sr. said his son was full of life, loved having fun and loved helping people.

One of Park's best friends said he was the type of person who would give you anything that you needed and not ask for anything in return.
