CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. -- A bus carrying a full load of Chinese travelers crashed along Interstate 80 in Clearfield County a few weeks ago. Two people were killed and dozens more were injured. Now, many of those riders have filed lawsuits.Several passengers on board were thrown from the bus and along with broken bones, some say they suffered brain injuries.According to an attorney representing 12 of the crash victims, many of the passengers have filed a lawsuit against the OK Travel Bus Company and the bus driver. The bus was heading from Chicago to New York when it crashed in Clearfield County. Police reports state the accident was caused by driver fatigue and speeding.According to officials, the injured riders were discharged from the hospital early because they had no health care. Their attorneys are now seeking compensation to pay for those medical bills and future surgeries that will be required. They said Chinese bus companies are common in big cities like New York and Philadelphia and have a bad reputation for not following regulations. The companies offer cheap rates to immigrants who speak little English and can't afford to travel, according to the attorneys. They hope this latest accident will force the companies to step up their safety measures.
