6 Best: Baseball

Posted: 4:03 pm EDT July 25, 2007Updated: 2:15 pm EDT July 26, 2007

While football may be king, baseball still holds a special place in the Alleghenies. Next year, the Altoona Curve will celebrate its 10th anniversary. More than 3 million fans have passed through the gates at Blair County Ballpark, so it's fitting that the Curve is known as "everybody's hometown team."

One of the area's biggest traditions kicks off next month - the annual AAABA tournament returns to Johnstown on Aug. 6. Over the years, many of the players who've played at Point Stadium have gone on to play in the major leagues.

The Point also has a new look this year: The entire stadium was renovated and a brand-new turf was installed.
