A Somerset County businessman has been arrested in connection with the slaying of his ex-wife nearly two decades ago.

Michael George, 46, was taken into custody over the weekend at his Comic World store on Graham Avenue in Windber.

Officials said he is suspected of killing his former wife 17 years ago while living in Michigan.

Though it was not clear why the investigation took so long, officials said something must have broken in the case, leading Michigan authorities to Windber.

Another local business owner who knows George said George and his current wife "seem like an all-American family." He described George as a loving father and a hard-working businessman.

George is being held without bond at the Somerset County Jail and is expected to be extradited to Michigan later this week.
