PHILIPSBURG, Pa. -- Sen. John Wozniak, D-35th District, said the future of the Philipsburg Hospital is still unclear and heavily relies on an individual investor coming in to save it. The hospital has been closed for nearly a year and a half. Dr. Larry Adams planned on reopening the hospital, but he and his partner were arrested on drug charges in June.Wozniak said a 24/7 health care facility in Philipsburg would be ideal, even if it isn't a full-fledged hospital. He also said residents have a short 15- to 20-minute drive to the Clearfield, which is much like residents of the west end of Johnstown, who have to drive 15 to 20 minutes to get to Conemaugh Health Systems.Wozniak said the Philipsburg Hospital was previously a nursing school and its layout would work well for a nursing home.
