Penn State RB Did Not Play Against Iowa

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Sources close to the Penn State football team have confirmed to Channel 6 that the locker of Penn State running back Austin Scott has been cleared. The university said Saturday he did not play against Iowa due to violation of team rules.Penn State head coach Joe Paterno said after Saturday's game Scott's status as far as playing "is in doubt." Channel 6 News reporter Gary Sinderson was told Saturday afternoon Scott returned to his home in Allentown, PA.On Friday, Channel 6 learned from Penn State police they were investigating an on-campus sexual assault which occurred early Friday morning. A woman said she was assaulted by a Penn State football player. Channel 6 learned the player under investigation was a starter on offense. Police have not said whether or not Austin Scott was involved in the alleged assault.Penn State police also say alcohol played a factor in the alleged assault, which reportedly took place in the Nittany-Pollock dorms on campus. Police are not releasing the player's name while they continue to investigate.
