EBENSBURG, Pa. -- The Department of Health did a follow-up survey of Laurel Crest last week. While the nursing home cleared up five of their deficiencies, they have a new one to fix.The new deficiency has to deal with incontinent care. Apparently the Department of Health was called in because of a complaint and they found a problem. Now Laurel Crest has to wait until the Department of Health makes its ruling on the deficiency to see whether or not the home will be allowed to bring in new residents. Despite last week's ups and downs, Laurel Crest will remain on their six-month provisional license until February. Commissioner P.J. Stevens said that although the deficiency was found, it doesn't mean Laurel Crest isn't giving its residents the care they need. The search for a new administrator at Laurel Crest is over. The commissioners said they will announce the new person at Wednesday's meeting.
