JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Freightcar America issued a press released Tuesday night that the company will close the Johnstown plant.

The company said it must take advantage of its lower-cost facilities and it was unable to reach an agreement with the steelworkers union on a contract that would make it cost effective.

The plant once employed 450 workers. Freightcar currently has 390 active employees.

The union is helping workers find jobs or get training.
