Bishop McCort High School students held a ceremony in Johnstown Wednesday morning to honor a popular student who lost his battle with cancer last year.

A statue of St. Peregrine, patron saint of cancer patients, was dedicated and blessed during a school Mass held in honor of Ezra Ed. Ed died in January 2007 at the age of 17 from bone cancer.

His class members decided to buy the statue for Ed's church parish.

Bishop McCort also established a scholarship fund Ed's memory.
