UPDATED: 5:47 pm EDT May 12, 2008

Two alledged copper thieves are shocked while trying to steal wire.

Somerset state police say Daniel Basinger of Confluence and Kevin Lytle of Pittsburgh went onto Penelec property along Humbert Road, in Lower Turkeyfoot Township, on May 3. The two reportedly tried to steal wire attached to a transformer and received an electrical shock in the process.

Some homeowners in the area were without power for hours until Penelec crews could repair the damage.
