Police Blame Vandals For Obscene Greens

POSTED: 6:24 pm EDT May 13, 2008
UPDATED: 6:58 pm EDT May 13, 2008

Officials at the Philipsburg Country Club say they're disgusted. About three weeks ago, they discovered obscene drawings burned into the grass on the course.

From what they can tell, someone used weed killer to burn the drawings onto two greens, a fairway and a tee.

Golfers said the graphic drawings are not only distracting, they are appalling.

"I think it's just terrible that they did that, but things will be taken care of," said Mouse Dixon.

"It's just sad, because something like that has never happen here," said Sandy Myers.

The drawings were isolated to one corner of the course, so club officials think the suspects accessed the course from a nearby road.

According to club officials, transplanting grass to cover up the drawings is going to cost them more than $1,500.

State police do have some suspects, but no one has been charged.
