Farmers: More Rain Brings More Concerns
Farmers are closing watching the weather reports after their planting season had to be put on hold due to recent heavy rains.Ken Soldano farms nearly 400 acres in Sipesville, Somerset County. He said nearly 7½ inches of rain is ponding on his land keeping him from planting his crops, including $7,000 worth of seed potatoes he had shipped from Maine.Soldano stored the load in a cooler to keep them from sprouting to the point where they'd be useless once planted. He's been able to plant crops on half of his property and said the rain has forced him to miss out on the prime growing season for his potatoes and onions.Click here to visit WJACTV.COM'S weather page.
