UPDATED: 8:42 pm EDT May 21, 2008

Construction of a new waste-coal power plant in Karthaus Township, Clearfield County has been delayed until March 2009.

Developers said they're waiting on parts for a boiler to arrive from China.

Work continues on excavation at the site.

Funding for the project was announced late last year.

It is expected to cost around $550 million and is expected to take four years to complete.

Residents in the nearby community of Karthaus said they're looking forward to the plant's completion.

"It will be great for the economy," said Betsy McCann. "At first I was concerned about pollution but I think it's going to be good for the area."

When it is completed, the plant is expected to employ around 60 people.
