MARION CENTER, Pa. -- A local race car driver is in fair condition Monday night with multiple skull fractures after an incident at an Indiana County Raceway.Marion Center Speedway officials say driver Rick Davis and another driver were bumping too much during their race and were therefore disqualified. They say the other driver went up to and sucker-punched Davis in the side of the head. Witnesses say it is possible that the other driver used a piece of metal to hit Davis.Davis ended up getting flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for fractures to his skull. Channel 6 has been told that he will need reconstructive surgery for his injuries.State police are investigating the incident. Because charges have not been filed, Channel 6 is not identifying him.At this Saturday's race, the other regular drivers want to pass their helmets around the grand stand for people to put money in them to raise money for Davis's medical bills.
