A fire in Blair County caused about $500,000 in damage to a gym over the weekend.

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. Saturday at the Building Two Athletic Club on Howard Avenue in Altoona.

Officials said the first floor was gutted, damaging several cardio machines.

The owner said the weight room and gym are intact but they suffered smoke damage. He said he plans on reopening as soon as possible.
