Altoona Shooting Suspect In Custody

Altoona police said they have a suspect in custody after a man was shot and wounded Thursday.

Police said Steven White, 23, of Altoona, was arrested Friday and is expected to be charged with attempted homicide.

The shooting happened near City Hall and the City Hall Commons apartment complex around 10:30 p.m.

Police said White was following his ex-girlfriend in a car when he pulled out a .357-caliber revolver. White allegedly fired six rounds in the car in which his ex-girlfriend and other men were riding. One of the men was the woman's current boyfriend.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, suffered a bullet wound to his right hand as well as shrapnel injuries to the knee, wrist, arm and shoulder.

Police said White fled the scene on foot. The victim drove to a Sheetz store in Patton Borough, Cambria County and called 911. '

Police said the victim was treated at Miner's Hospital in Hastings.
