Air Service Resumes at DuBois Regional Airport

Wednesday, September 3, 2008 – updated: 9:16 pm EDT September 3, 2008

Travellers can now fly between DuBois Regional Airport and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Airport officials unveiled the service Wednesday in a special ceremony.

In May, Mesa Air announced it was cutting service at the airport.

An agreement was already in place with Gulfstream and Continental Airlines to start service in September.

Airport officials said the new service provides many new destinations to travellers.

They added that the trip from DuBois to Cleveland takes a little more than a half hour.

Local officials said commercial flights out of the airport are very important to the local economy.

"People from at least three counties are drawn to this airport," said Clearfield County Commissioner Mark McCracken.

Several local officials took a flight to Cleveland after Wednesday's ceremony for a tour of the airport's facilities.
