Winkleman Refuses Plea Deal, Heads to Trial

Thursday, September 4, 2008 – updated: 5:51 pm EDT September 4, 2008

Antonio Winkleman, accused in a killing last year, refused a plea agreement in Cambria County Court today. Police say Winkleman shot Scott Ikes in his Johnstown home last year.

Several witnesses said they heard arguing about drugs followed by a gunshot. No witnesses saw Winkleman pull the trigger.

Police say Winkleman confessed to the crime. However, his lawyer wanted the confession thrown out because no lawyer was present when he confessed. Today the judge decided to keep it.

Winkleman's trial is set to start early next month.
