Texas-Based Hotel Chain To Take Over Bedford Springs Resort

Posted: 6:32 pm EST December 15, 2008Updated: 12:23 pm EST December 16, 2008

The Omni Hotels based out of Dallas, Texas announced Monday they will take over management for the Bedford Springs Resort.

The infamous historic resort just completed a $120 million renovation and expansion project July 2007.

"The resort has made a remarkable transformation," said Caryn Kboudi, Omni's vice president of corporate communications. "Omni is not looking to make changes but to enhance the property."

At this point, it does not appear any jobs will be affected.

Dennis Tice, executive director of the Bedford County Visitor's Bureau, told WJACTV.com despite the economy, business at the resort is doing well.

"We were a bit up in the air, wondering what would happen, but when we learned it was Omni Hotels coming in, we were happy," Tice said. "They're a pretty top-notch company."

Omni will take over management from Benchmark Hospitality International Jan. 1.
