Another Delay In Demolition Of Cambria County House

Posted: 6:06 pm EST December 28, 2008Updated: 8:18 pm EST December 28, 2008

The Park's Family house in Portage was set to be demolished Monday morning, but a last minute injunction is delaying crews from tearing what neighbors said it as eyesore.

Donald Parks and his brothers and sisters are fighting to keep their house on Route 164 right where it is. Portage Supervisors have been trying to get rid of it since a state dog warden filed charges against their family in 2006. Inside the house officials found 40 dogs and feces about a foot high. There was also trash piled up to the ceiling.

The Park's siblings said they are not done fighting to keep crews from demolishing it.

"We had to go through the injunction so they wouldn't tear it down because we have family heirlooms in there," said Donals Parks.

On December 24, a Cambria County judge originally gave the go-ahead for crews to tear down the house, but late Friday afternoon, the Park's filed an injunction with the state court to intervene.
