Congressman John Murtha Celebrates 35 Years In Office

Veteran Johnstown area U.S. Rep. John Murtha marked a milestone anniversary Thursday.

It was 35 years ago that Murtha took his oath of office to represent the 12th congressional district.

Murtha was elected to his 17th term in Novemeber 2008.

He was first voted into office in 1974 in a special election. He won that election by just 122 votes.

He was the first Vietnam combat veteran elected to Congress.
