Family Unharmed After Fire Destroys Home

A Somerset County family of six flees their home after it catches on fire. Just about everything in the home was destroyed but the family escaped unharmed.

Fire crews arrived to the 100 block of Oak Street in Jerome just before 4:30 a.m. Two adults and their four young children lived in the home.

The Jerome Fire Chief Russel Miller said it looks like the fire was accidental and may have been caused by an electrical blanket. The blaze caused about $127,000 in damage.

The family is staying with relatives.

If the public is interested in donating to the family, send donations to the Red Cross.
