STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Weather permitting, the 2009 season of the State College Spikes minor league baseball team will kick off Friday evening.

The Spikes will take on Williamsport at Medlar Field at Lobrano Park at 7:05 p.m.

Former Penn State football star A.Q. Shipley will throw out the first pitch.

The Spikes also announced it will offer special promotions for every home game, like $1 hot dogs on Mondays and half-price tickets on Wednesdays.
