Dale Borough Gets Stimulus Money For Sewer Project
For several years, Dale Borough has been preping for a huge sewer project that could have doubled many residents' sewer bills. However, the borough officials announced it would be getting just over $5 million in stimulus money for the project. They said the sewer bills for area residents won't go up and the project will add jobs to the area.Currently, Dale Borough has one pipe that collects both sewage and storm water. When the area gets a lot of rain the water overflows sending untreated sewage into Solomon Run.The project will bring 25-30 jobs to the area.Sen. Arlen Spector, D-Pa., was in town for the announcement."It provides new jobs but cleans up a very serious health problem where there has been overflows in the stream and ultimately into the river," Spector said. It's a huge relief for residents who said they pay anywhere from $25 to $30 a month for sewage. Without the stimulus money they would have paid about $50.
