New Faces To Join Johnstown City Council

Posted: 11:22 pm EST November 3, 2009

There will be some new faces on Johnstown's city council as the city facing a massive budget deficit and on-going distressed status.

Eight candidates were seeking four open seats on council including Rose Howarth, Marie Mock, Peter Vizza, Lonnie Reitscha, Richard Beauregard, Gary Tokar, as well as current council members William Neatrour and Ann Wilson.

Howarth, Mock, Vizza and Wilson all walked away with a win Tuesday night. Neatrour did not make the cut with voters and will no longer serve on council.

In the mayor's race, Democratic incumbent Tom Trigona came away with a win over Republican Sharyn Spinelli.

Trigona and the new members of council have plenty of challenges ahead as they tackle a $479,000 budget deficit and welcome a new city manager by the end of the year.
