Three Confirmed Dead In Early Morning Fire

Cambria County coroner Denny Kwiatkowski has confirmed to WJAC-TV News that three people were killed in an overnight fire in Johnstown.

The blaze broke out shortly before 1 a.m. Monday at a home along the 100 block of Skelly Street, in the 8th Ward section of Johnstown. The home was located next to Memorial Medical Center's main campus.

The fire destroyed the home, killing three of the four people who lived there. A teenage boy escaped the blaze with some injuries.

The injured boy is a high student in the Greater Johnstown School District. Superintendent Barbara Parkins said that there will be grief counselors on hand at the school.

The state police fire marshal was at the home Monday morning, but the investigation has been handed over to the Johnstown Police Department. The investigation is on-going, and no details on the cause have been released.
