Laurel Crest Nursing Home Sold

7:20 a.m. EDT May 16, 2003

The County Commissioners on Thursday officially turned the Laurel Crest Manor home over to the Upper Yoder Township Authority.

Under terms of its agreement with the authority, the county gets $12 million in loans to pay off debt. The county will lease Laurel Crest from the authority while making payments on the loans. The commissioners are banking on the home to turn a profit to provide the cash to pay the bills. If it doesn't, the county taxpayers will pay more in taxes.
