Public Safety WiFi Use Growing In Altoona

Public safety for Altoona continues to grow.

It's been over a month since Altoona City officials installed their WiFi system.

Deputy Fire Chief Tim Hileman said the WiFi gives them information at their fingertips.

They're able to pull up preplans of buildings and connect with other command centers at the site of emergencies. Immediately, it allows them to receive instant information like chemical data.

Police officers say they're able to save on time on paperwork while keeping a bigger presence on the road.

City officials are working to put the codes and parking authority online.
